Just for fun !

There is always something called as "Important Work" and that work means serious work and many times one has to follow the rules. This holds true even while painting. As the process evolves and if it's a final big piece that I am working on, I have a small study or notes that I keep next to me to work with. These are constraints of sorts and one's playfield is set within the boundaries of these constraints. Hence I have to be on my toes while I am at the easel ! And like a normal human being I become tired....not just physically but even mentally....

So how do I deal with such mental fatigue? I paint for fun - immersing myself completely into creating something that inspires m, without worrying about the result. If it doesn't turn out well, the paper goes into the trash can. Simple! If it turns out well, it's a gift for me to treasure :)  The medium that I most prefer to play with is watercolor. I work on small pieces of paper or postcards as I could later frame and share those with others.

So below you find one such miniature study of a picture I discovered on Ikea's website. I just couldn't stop myself from painting it. And I haven't signed it because the original picture doesn't belong to me. It just for fun and not for sale...for me to look at and feel happy.

How do you keep yourself happy and what is it you do "Just for fun !" ? Do share your ideas in the comment section.
